Behold, children are a heritage from the Lord, the fruit of the womb a reward. Like arrows in the hand of a warrior are the children of one’s youth. Blessed is the man who fills his quiver with them! He shall not be put to shame when he speaks with his enemies in the gate. Psalm 127:3-5
We are getting ready for baby number 6. I like to be (as) prepared as I can be before the baby comes. In the past, this is what that has meant:
- We find out if it is a boy or a girl.
- We pick a name for said boy or girl.
- We pick a scripture out that we kind of “give” to our child.
- We have the clothes ready.
- We have some diapers on hand.
- We have a mostly “concrete” plan for the birth, with a back up plan as well.
- We have a dr.
This pregnancy has been different in a lot of ways. We haven’t found out if we are having a boy or girl. We don’t have any names picked out (not even choices). We don’t have a scripture picked out (yet!). The only clothes I have are “unisex” clothes and I just today put them on some shelves to prepare. We have decided to do cloth diapers and I have ordered them, but they are not here…. yet. We are having a home birth. Our midwife is not in the immediate area, but we have faith that all of this work out. I have had 4 c-sections and our last baby (Faith) was born naturally at MUSC. We ARE praying for this lil baby and a healthy, non-eventful delivery. We ARE diligently working to prepare our home and our property (we live on 20 acres and have chickens, a greenhouse, about an acre plot of land we are prepping for our garden) ready as we can before the baby comes so it will be a little bit easier. I have been resting when the other kids rest. I have been napping when my body says nap. I have been walking. So yes, this pregnancy is different, but I know that I am in His hands and I am loved, not only by God, but by my husband, my children and my family. Although my family may not understand all of our decisions, I have faith, and this is what matters.
